Increasing your Influence and Credibility as a Guest on Podcasts

Almost any profession, business or online venture today will benefit from good press. But breaking into the media is not always easy.
A great way to get started, that is super accessible, is to be a guest on podcasts. There are a lot of new podcasts launching right now and they are searching for guests to help them create content.
In addition, most podcasts come out weekly (some even daily) so there is no shortage of opportunities.
I had the pleasure of being quoted in a recent blog post at LOGO.com. I joined other podcast industry professionals to share the benefits of appearing on podcasts other than your own.
Whether you have a podcast or are just looking for additional exposure and credibility, podcasts are a great place to do this.

To get started, I recommend creating a one-sheet that summarizes your background, best topics and what can be expected when you are invited to be a guest.
After that, you're ready to meet your future hosts. You can find them in a number of places...here is where I find them hanging out in the largest numbers:
Facebook groups about podcast guest opportunities
Podcast guest connection directories (most are free)
Reddit podcast guest subreddits
You can also reach out to hosts of podcasts you listen to and ask if they are looking for guests.
Keep in mind that your episode could come out months after it is recorded, so this is definitely a long game. But it will pay off by increasing your credibility, driving traffic to your website and raising your influence.
